The Product:WarmlyYours TempZone vs SunTouch®

Both companies use a heating wire secured to a supporting material, still, there are major differences between these two electric floor heating systems.

  • 2” Loop, 37.5% more heating wire - better design
  • Two plane construction mesh protects wire
  • 15 Watt - faster to heat up than 12 watt systems
  • 2.75” Loop
  • Double conductor wires - stiff wire - roll raises from the floor in cut & turns
  • Only 12 Watt/sq.ft.
  • WarmlyYours TempZone uses a 2” loop to serpentine the heater wire through the roll. With a 2” loop, we can turn left every 4” and we can turn right every 4”. SunTouch® uses a loop of 2.75”, so they can turn left-or-right every 5.5”. This means that:
  • We offer 37.5% more coverage of heating wire at 15 watt/sq. ft. square foot and offer a faster distribution of heat.
  • The narrower loop allows for a better design, allowing closer coverage to vanities, shower entrances and reducing the chances of allowing cold spots.
  • Installers find it easier to trace turns at distances of 2”, 4”, 6”, 8” etc, rather than keeping track of turns at 2.75”, 5.5”, 8.25”, 11”, 13.75”, 16.5” etc.
  • TempZone features a “two-plane construction”. The heater wire is the first plane against the subfloor, and it is covered by the fiberglass mesh as a second plane, that serves as an umbrella protection against the trowel movements. The TempZone has small holes that allow the thinset to go through but not the trowel teeth. SunTouch® weaves the heating wire over-&-under their mesh, which has holes large enough for the trowel teeth to go through.
  • The TempZone wire is a single-conductor fully shielded wire. We prefer the single conductor wire because it is thinner and more flexible. We also prefer to have two-return power leads, one at each end of the roll, because it allows us to have return leads that are the same thickness as the heater wire, therefore there is NO need to chisel the subfloor and channel the return power lead wires to the thermostat. The SunTouch® heater wire is a two-conductor shielded wire, which makes it thicker and stiffer. SunTouch® also uses a fiberglass that is more flexible than the fiberglass we use; therefore the softer fiberglass offers no resistance against the wire memory of the stiffer 2-conductor wire. After cut-&-turns, the SunTouch® wire will raise from the floor and the installer will fight the roll because the SunTouch® fiberglass will not keep the wire down.
  • WarmlyYours features heating rolls at 15-watts per square foot. The maximum allowed by the National Electrical Code is 15-watt/sq.ft. and we often design the 15-watt/sq.ft. rolls under tile and stones.
  • For installation under carpet, laminate flooring or engineered wood that are installed over a pad, WarmlyYours has the WarmlyYours-Environ II product that is installed over the pad, directly under the flooring material (carpet or floating floor). This product does not require any cement application. SunTouch® does these products by adding a layer of thin-set or self leveling cement over their mesh-rolls.
