Now's the Time!
The snow melt and deicing season is just beginning. Yes, we know that the snow has already melted, well, maybe not for the North East ... sorry Boston! And, while we have spring break on our mind and are all trying to forget the tough winter that we just experienced, it’s important to know that now is the time to go into planning mode if you want next winter to be snow, frost and ice-free.
Why now? We understand that the last thing you want to think about is snow in any form! But, the springtime really is the right time to install a snow melting system, because neither concrete nor asphalt should be placed when the ground is frozen - during the winter season.
Generally speaking, the temperature of new concrete should not be allowed to fall below 50 degrees F during placement. Even the “dog days” of summer can be a problem for concrete placement, because concrete can "flash set" at temperatures above 90 degrees F. Not to mention that humidity can cause concrete! The bottom line is that spring and fall are the best seasons to place concrete.
For asphalt jobs, you should wait until temperatures are 70 degrees F or warmer. The colder the air, the less time the asphalt paving crew has to work with the driveway asphalt, because the crew needs time to smooth the asphalt across the driveway. By not giving proper time to smooth the pour, you could end up with bumpy driveway that is irregular or even unfinished. The bottom line is that spring and summer are the best seasons to pour asphalt.
Timing is everything! Now is the time to start that snow melt, deicing project and plan it with us! We are experts who are here to help you, because we understand the application and installation. We’re not here to sell a product. We’re here to sell you a solution.
