Recently, a video of candidates interviewing for a job advertised as the toughest in the world has been circulating on Internet. In the video, as the interviewer explains the virtually unending list of job responsibilities and demands, the rigorous 24/7 schedule with no time off and no breaks, the applicants can’t believe that anyone would be willing to work under those conditions. In the end, the job seekers are caught off guard (SPOILER ALERT!) when they are informed that the title of the position is “mother”. Though initially surprised, they quickly make the connection that the duties of the hypothetical position, and all the superhuman demands, accurately reflect what their mothers do, and have done, for them throughout their lives. Overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude, they call their own mothers to thank them. While none of the applicants to the job were interested in working under the conditions described—in fact, very few even responded to the initial job notice—every day around the world, mothers willingly, even enthusiastically, take on the job. We love our moms. We recognize that mothers are often the foundation of the family, our home base, a source of sustenance and support. They are our caretakers, teachers, drill sergeants, cheerleaders and best friends. They anchor us and inspire us to reach for the stars. We have our mothers to thank for helping to shape who we are.

Celebrating Mom

This weekend we recognize the wonderful women—mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunts, neighbors, wives, sisters and daughters—who nurture and inspire us. Whether it’s with a well-deserved day off, a picture you painted yourself, brunch with family, or long-distance call to tell her you love her, we celebrate Mother’s Day and find ways to thank these wonderful women for all they have given us. And while Mother’s Day is observed on one Sunday in May, we can show our moms how much we appreciate them throughout the year, by spending time with them, and finding small ways to give back a little of what they give us every day. For most mothers, like those in this video who got the opportunity to hear what their kids liked most about their moms, the greatest gift is just knowing how much their kids love and appreciate them.

Supporting Moms

For some mothers, the job can be even more difficult. Those who are raising children on their own or working to survive abusive relationships often need extra support. Last weekend, WarmlyYours participated in the second annual EmpoweRun 5K to benefit A Safe Place, a Libertyville, Ill.-based organization that advocates for and provides assistance to victims of domestic violence. Visit ASafePlaceForHelp.org website to learn more about the great work this group does and how you can join WarmlyYours in supporting them.

All week on Facebook, WarmlyYours will be recognizing some of the radiant women in our lives. Check out the WarmlyYours Facebook page where WarmlyYours employees will be sharing photos and stories about their mothers.

Pampering Mom

Because we think that one day just isn’t enough to let our mothers know how much they mean to us, we have come up with a way to make it last all year. Remind your mom how special she is everyday, when she wraps herself in a warm, fluffy towel heated on a WarmlyYours Towel Warmer in her bathroom. Save her time in her morning routine, as well as the hassle of cleaning streaked mirrors with a ClearlyYou™ Mirror Defogger to keep her mirrors fog-free and ready-to-use the moment she steps out of the shower. During the WarmlyYours “Mothers Are Radiant” spring sale, our complete collection of towel warmers and ClearlyYou™ Mirror Defoggers are 20% off from May 12 to18*. So, next Monday call (800) 875-5285 or visit WarmlyYours to give mom the spa experience she deserves--and the rest of the family will love it too!
*Coupon code TW-MD-20 required and some restrictions apply. Visit WarmlyYours on Monday, May 12th, for promotion details.
