This project outlines the design and materials for a heated paver driveway, using a Snow Melt Mat system to provide full coverage for a total area of 810 sq. ft. The system is designed to operate on 240V.
Design & MaterialsÂ
The installation plan requires a mix of heating mats, controls, and accessories to create an automated and efficient system. The heating mats will be laid out directly on the prepared sub-base before the pavers are installed.
-
Heating Mats:
- 9 units of WHMA-240-0240 Snow Melt PowerMats will be used. Each mat is 2x40 ft. (80 sq. ft.), totaling 720 sq. ft. of coverage. This accounts for the main heating area, leaving space for edging or irregular shapes.
- Controls & Automation:
-
Relay & Power Management:
- A Large Relay Panel (RLY-12PL-CC) and a Medium Relay Panel (RLY-8PL-CC) will be used to safely handle the system's high amperage.
-
Junction Boxes:
- An SM-JBOX-IG-L and an SM-JBOX-IG-S will be installed in-ground to provide safe, waterproof connections for the electrical wiring.
-
Accessories:
- A Snow Melt Plaque (SMP) is included as an NEC (National Electrical Code) requirement, indicating the presence of the heated system.
