When you're preparing for your TempZone Flex installation, it's crucial to obtain the correct dimensions of the room. Once you have these measurements, send us a drawing, and we will provide you with a SmartPlan. This installation plan will detail how to lay out the product effectively. Upon receiving the product, it's important to test it with a digital ohmmeter to ensure that the readings on your meter align with the product specifications indicated on the label. If the test results are satisfactory, you can proceed to install the circuit check onto the wires. This device will serve as your eyes and ears during the installation, alerting you to any issues that may arise with the wiring. Ensure that this device is installed and tested properly before you begin laying out the product on the floor.

Next, mark the location of your starting point and proceed with making the necessary cuts and turns while laying out the product according to the installation plan. It's essential to remember not to cut the heating wire; you should only cut the green mesh. Additionally, ensure that the mesh is installed with the wire facing down. The product should not be attached to the subfloor at this stage; instead, it should be placed loosely to confirm that your cuts and turns fit correctly and that the entire room is adequately covered. Avoid any permanently installed fixtures, which can be indicated with blue tape marked with X's. Instead of going under these fixtures, you will need to go around them, which may require removing some wire from the mesh for a freeform layout.

As you continue laying out the product, pay special attention when working around a toilet. It's crucial to keep the heating wire at least four inches away from the wax ring. Once you confirm that everything fits properly, you can attach the product to the subfloor. A stapler can be used to secure the mesh, but remember to never staple over the wire itself. The mesh should hold the freeform wire in place, and you can staple through the mesh to secure it. We recommend using a hot glue gun to further secure the product to the subfloor. A tool can help push the mesh down into the glue to ensure a strong bond. Proper attachment to the subfloor is vital, especially if you plan to use self-leveling material, as the product may try to float otherwise.

When working around the factory splice—the larger area on the wire that connects the non-heating lead to the heating wire—make sure this section is buried in thinset or self-leveling compound. At this point, you can install the sensor, which must be positioned between two heating wires, avoiding placement directly over one of the heating wires. The sensor should be in an open loop configuration. After laying out the product on the floor, conduct another test to verify that everything is functioning correctly. If the test is successful, reattach the circuit check device to the product, and it will be ready for coverage.

Now, you can prepare to measure your self-leveling mix. Be sure to follow the mixing instructions provided on the bag closely and achieve the correct thickness. Once the mix is ready, pour a layer of self-leveling compound approximately 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick. This will create a smooth, level surface for your tile installation. After the self-leveling compound has set enough to walk on, you can proceed with installing your tile. Finally, you will see the finished product, showcasing the results of your careful installation process.
