Roof and Gutter Heat Tape Accessories

A roof and gutter deicing installation needs four things beyond the cable: a power connection kit, aluminum roof clips, double-sided gutter pads to bond those clips down, and a control with a moisture sensor to switch the system on.

Ordering them with the system is the simplest part of preparing for winter.

Essential Roof Heat Tape Accessories Checklist

Everything a self-regulating deicing run needs beyond the cable itself.

Power Connection Kit One per cable run. The SR-PWR-KIT hardwires the run; the SR-PLUG-KIT gives you a ground-fault-protected plug-in instead. Both include the ET-END-KIT end seal.
Aluminum Roof Clips Gutter heating cable clips hold the cable to shingle and metal roofs — roughly 1 clip per 10 feet of gutter, plus 2 for each downspout.
Gutter Pads & Primer 3" x 2" VHB pads bond the clips to the roof above 50°F. Add ET-94-PRIMER on rubber, EPDM and other surfaces that resist adhesion.
Control & Sensor A roof deicing thermostat and controls switch the cable on. Automatic models add a moisture sensor so the system skips dry cold snaps.

Yes. Both the SR-PWR-KIT and the SR-PLUG-KIT include an ET-END-KIT end seal. Self-regulating cable is cut to length on site, so the cut end has to be sealed against moisture. You need one connection kit, and therefore one end seal, for each individual run of cable.

Both connect an ET-SR self-regulating cable to power, and both include an ET-END-KIT end seal. The SR-PWR-KIT is for a hardwired connection. The SR-PLUG-KIT converts the run to a ground-fault-protected 120V plug-in instead, rated for 15A. You need one kit for each individual run of cable.

Install when the temperature is above 50°F for best results. The 3” x 2” double-sided pads bond the aluminum clips to the roof or gutter and ship 25 to a package. Below that temperature the adhesive will not reach full strength, so fit the pads before the first hard freeze.

Use it wherever the VHB tape pads will not bond reliably on their own: rubber, EPDM, and certain other surfaces. The primer is applied before the pad and is sold in a 1-quart container. On typical asphalt shingle and metal roofs the pads bond without it.
