Cleaning carpet over Environ mats and Flex Rolls

Turn the heater off and keep the complete floor assembly dry before restarting.

Turn off the heating system before cleaning the carpet or dealing with a spill. The Environ Easy Mat manual says not to turn it on again until the carpet, underlay and heater are all dry. Do not use the heater to accelerate drying.

Tell the carpet cleaner that a foil electric heater lies beneath the carpet. Choose a carpet-compatible method that avoids saturating the assembly. The manual’s instruction for shampooing is not approval for every steam cleaner or extraction machine.

Protect the heater from sharp points and concentrated loads. The Flex Roll manual prohibits small furniture feet of ¼ sq. in. or less and limits pressure to 100 psi for the specified intermediate footprint range; those furniture precautions are not a certification of a cleaning machine. Check the equipment’s loaded weight, contact area and wheels, and avoid equipment that could pierce or crush the heater.

This guidance concerns existing approved Environ carpet installations. Environ under carpet is approved in the United States only; it is not a Canadian carpet-installation approval.
