Distinguish the heating element from the non-heating cold lead before changing cable length.
Do not cut, shorten, or lengthen the TempZone heating element to make it fit. Altering its length can cause overheating and damage. Use the cable or roll size specified for the layout.
For a TempZone Flex Roll, the fiberglass mesh may be cut and turned as shown in the manual, but the heating wire must remain intact. Do not allow heating cable to touch, cross, or overlap itself.
The non-heating cold lead is different. The loose-cable manual permits trimming excess cold lead and recommends leaving 12 inches extending into the thermostat box for connection. The Flex Roll manual permits shortening or extending its cold lead. Such work must follow the exact product instructions and applicable electrical requirements; it does not authorize cutting the heating wire or factory splice.
