Even in the cold vacuum of space, comfort matters. We took on the ultimate heating challenge: designing a radiant floor system for Stanley Kubrick's iconic Neoclassical Menagerie / Human Zoo from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Picture this: You're millions of miles from Earth, traveling through the freezing void of space in a rotating centrifuge. The outside temperature? A bone-chilling -455°F. Your only companion is HAL 9000, an AI with a tendency toward... let's call it "strong opinions" about mission protocols.
In this environment, staying warm isn't just about comfort—it's about survival.
When we came across this stunning artistic interpretation of the Human Zoo's floor plan, we couldn't resist the challenge. What would it take to keep this iconic room comfortable for its human crew? How would we design a radiant heating system that even HAL would approve of?
The answer: A custom 7-zone radiant floor heating system that would make even the most advanced AI jealous.
