How to Connect Amazon Echo to WiFi Switch for Voice Control

Now that we have successfully set up our Leviton Decora Smart with Wi-Fi devices, this video will demonstrate how you can use your voice to control them using Amazon Alexa. It's truly convenient to simply say, "Alexa, turn all lights off," at the end of the night as your head hits the pillow. With just a Leviton Wi-Fi device and an Amazon Alexa-enabled device, you can easily manage your lighting without any extra hardware.

You can issue various Alexa commands to Leviton Decora Smart with Wi-Fi dimmers, switches, and plug-in modules. For example, you can say, "Alexa, turn on [device name]," or "Alexa, turn off [device name]." Additionally, you can adjust the brightness by saying, "Alexa, set [dimmer name] to [X percent]," "Alexa, brighten [dimmer name]," or "Alexa, dim [dimmer name]." You can also activate specific activities with commands like, "Alexa, turn on [activity name]." Connecting an Amazon Echo, Dot, Tap, Show, or other compatible devices is straightforward.

Before you begin, ensure that your Leviton Wi-Fi device is installed and that the My Leviton app is set up with an account connected to this device. Previous videos showcase both the hardware installation and the app setup process if you have not completed those steps yet. To start, open the Alexa app on your mobile device and select "Smart Home" from the menu. Next, choose "Smart Home Skills" and search for "My Leviton." Select it from the results and enable the skill, which will link Alexa to your My Leviton account.

Simply enter the email address and password you use to log into your My Leviton app and click "Link Your Account." Once your My Leviton account has been successfully linked, press the "X" button in the top corner of the screen to return to the Smart Home page of the Alexa app. Now, you need to inform Alexa which devices you would like to control with your voice. Select "Discover Devices" to search for your connected Leviton Wi-Fi devices. After the discovery process is complete, you will see all Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices and any activities from the My Leviton app displayed under the "Your Devices" heading.

These devices are now linked, and you can begin using your voice to control them and their associated activities. If you prefer not to have voice control on a specific device, simply tap "Forget." Please note that any time you use the My Leviton app to add more smart devices or rename an existing device, you can say, "Alexa, discover my devices," and Alexa will automatically link your updated device names or new Leviton products.
