How to Sell Radiant Panels According to Your Customers' Needs
Learn about our several different radiant panel models and how each of them fits into your customer preferences.
Hello and thank you for joining today's webinar, "How to Sell Radiant Panels According to Your Customers' Preferences," hosted by WarmlyYours Radiant Heating. I'm your moderator, Scott Rosenbaum, and I'm going to take approximately 20 minutes to discuss how to identify your customers' needs and effectively cross-sell radiant panels to them. Selling radiant panels in your kitchen and bath showroom could significantly add revenue to your business, so we want to ensure that you are equipped with the most effective tools and knowledge to maximize your sales.
Showrooms are the perfect place for cross-selling. When customers are purchasing big-ticket items like cabinetry, countertops, flooring materials, and in-floor heating, this is the ideal time to discuss unique upgrades like radiant panels. For customers looking to remodel their homes, radiant panels offer an excellent cross-selling opportunity because they can be installed at any stage of the remodeling process. Additionally, they contribute valuable revenue to your business that you would otherwise be missing.
WarmlyYours offers two collections of radiant panels: the Ember Line and the Lava Line. The Ember Line is our most popular and affordable collection, available in glass or mirror finishes and in white or black colors. It is a plug-in product operating on 120 volts and is compatible with our Wi-Fi controls, such as the Wemo switch. The Ember Line comes in two sizes: 600 watts and 800 watts, and they can be mounted on walls or ceilings, with ceiling mounting accessories sold separately. Moreover, the Ember panels can be paired with towel warmer bars, converting them into heated towel racks for bathrooms.
On the other hand, the Lava Line represents our high-end, most luxurious option. Available in glass or mirror finishes, the Lava Line comes in colors such as white, green, red, or black. Unlike the Ember Line, the Lava panels need to be hardwired and controlled by a thermostat, which is included with the purchase. The Lava Line is available in five different sizes: 250 watts, 300 watts, 500 watts, 750 watts, and 1000 watts, and these panels are wall-mounted. Similar to the Ember panels, the Lava panels can also be paired with towel warmer bars and an LED light kit is available for added functionality.
Now, what is infrared heat exactly? You can compare it to the sun. The sun's rays do not directly heat the air; instead, they heat people and objects they come in contact with. When you step outside into the sun, your skin feels the heat immediately. This heat from the sun's rays is called infrared heat, and our radiant panels utilize this same type of heat to bring warmth into your home. Radiant panels emit infrared waves that heat the walls, floor, and ceiling of a room rather than the air. This creates a domino effect, as these objects gently release warmth back into the air. With this heating style, the ambient air temperature in the room can be cooler, yet you still feel warmer, allowing for greater comfort at lower temperatures and measurable cost savings.
The benefits of radiant panels include energy savings. Using WarmlyYours radiant panels, you can heat an area with up to 30% less power output than alternative convection heaters. This efficiency arises because you do not need to raise the ambient temperature as high, which leads to immediate savings. The radiant panels allow you to maintain the ambient room thermostat temperature up to 2 degrees lower, resulting in an average savings of about 12% on heating expenses. This is particularly beneficial in cold basements with poor heat circulation, which is a common issue in the Midwest. The radiant panels offer an easy way to add a primary heat source to any area of the house without incurring major renovation costs. Unlike floor heating, radiant panels can be added at any time during your projects.
Let's also discuss the health benefits of infrared heat. Unlike traditional convection heaters, infrared heat does not involve blowing air, which drastically reduces the amount of dust and allergens circulated throughout your home. This makes infrared heat a healthier option. Additionally, infrared heating technology does not come with the bulky, unsightly designs often associated with traditional space heaters. Our radiant panels are intentionally designed to enhance the aesthetics of a room rather than detract from it. You can even replace a radiator or space heater with a radiant panel to recover lost space in a room.
For affordability, you can choose the Ember Line, which features inexpensive and easy installation, requiring only a power supply. Once plugged in, the panel is ready to work. Ember Radiant Panels come equipped with several built-in security sensors to prevent overheating, allowing homeowners to enjoy warmth and comfort in any room. They also free up valuable living space by eliminating the need for radiators or space heaters. All panels can be mounted vertically or horizontally on a wall to provide primary or supplementary heat. For those mounted vertically, WarmlyYours offers towel bar accessories for added functionality.
When considering the right size for your room, the Ember glass radiant panels are available in a 600-watt model measuring 35 by 24 inches, as well as an 800-watt model measuring 47 by 24 inches, in both black and white. The Ember mirror radiant panels come in a 600-watt model with a mirror finish. Generally, we recommend using a guideline of seven to eight watts per square foot for room heating. For example, if you want eight watts per square foot, the 600-watt Ember panel would effectively cover approximately 75 square feet. Similarly, the 800-watt Ember glass panel would be suitable for a space of around 100 square feet.
Now, how do you choose between the Ember and Lava lines? The Lava panels not only provide heat but also enrich your interior design. This high-end collection is designed for customers seeking something unique for their homes, fitting seamlessly into any design style with various available sizes and colors. The Lava mirror sizing chart follows the same principle; for instance, if you have a 1000-watt Lava mirror and want coverage at eight watts per square foot, it will effectively heat a 125 square foot area.
The Lava glass panels also follow this guideline, available in wattages of 1000, 750, 500, and 250 watts, with corresponding BTU outputs. For a 1000-watt Lava glass unit, it will heat approximately 100 square feet at ten watts per square foot. Keep in mind that these are general estimations, and the effectiveness will depend on the insulation quality of the room. The better insulated the room, the more warmth you will feel from the unit.

To address some of the most common questions we receive from our customers: One popular question is how to determine the size of the panel or how many panels are needed to heat a room. This information is included in the charts we reviewed during the presentation. You can refer back to those charts to size your Lava panels according to the dimensions of the room you are working with.
Another common inquiry pertains to the voltage of WarmlyYours radiant panels. They operate on 120 volts only and cannot be connected to 240 volts. Regarding temperature control, when using a SmartStat thermostat, you control the air temperature in the room. The panel itself is either on or off; it does not emit varying temperatures. The thermostat regulates the heating by turning the unit on or off, but the surface temperature of the panel cannot be adjusted.
Customers often ask if the unit can overheat. The answer is no, as the panels are equipped with built-in limiters that prevent overheating. As for how long it takes for the radiant panel to warm up, it typically takes about three to four minutes to reach a comfortable temperature. However, it is essential to remember that the panel needs to be on to heat the items in your room effectively.
