Yes, any licensed electrician can install electric radiant heating systems. All WarmlyYours products fall within the scope of standard electrical work – no special license or certification is required beyond your existing electrical license.

What electricians need to know:

  • Systems operate on standard 120V or 240V circuits
  • Dedicated circuit required (size depends on system)
  • GFCI protection required per NEC code
  • Floor/snow sensors wire to thermostat or control panel

While not required, we recommend our certification courses to learn product-specific installation best practices. We also provide free SmartPlan™ installation layouts that include all electrical specifications.

Our 24/7 technical support team is available to assist with any installation questions.

Snow melting system installation typically involves collaboration between multiple trades:

Primary Installers

  • Concrete contractors – embed heating cables during concrete pour
  • Paving contractors – install in asphalt or under pavers
  • Landscapers – handle paver and walkway installations

Electrical Work

  • Electricians – run dedicated circuits, install controls and sensors

Typical Project Flow

  1. Request a free SmartPlan™ with your project drawings
  2. Concrete/paving contractor prepares the area and lays out cables per plan
  3. Electrician runs power supply and installs control panel
  4. Concrete/paving contractor completes the surface
  5. Electrician installs snow/ice sensor and makes final connections

Important: Snow melting cables must be installed during construction – they cannot be added to existing concrete or asphalt. Retrofit options are available for paver installations.

In theory, it is possible, if no other options are available. We do not recommend it, but If the thermostat is controlling the floor temperature with a floor sensor, then it can go on an exterior wall. It is important that the floor sensor gets located in an area of the floor not hit by sunshine.

If the thermostat will be controlling the air temperature with the built-in ambient sensor, then it should go on an interior wall.

We usually recommend that you have an individual thermostat for each room. However, if it's an open floor plan and your local electrical code allows you to have one controller for the whole area, then it's definitely possible to have it all controlled from one thermostat.

Yes, this model is dual-voltage and compatible with both 120V and 240V systems. However, ensure your supply voltage matches the voltage requirement of your specific floor heating element (e.g., do not connect 240V power to a 120V heating mat).

Yes — the nJoy WiFi (UWG5-4999) thermostat supports all three major smart home platforms:

  • Amazon Alexa — use voice commands to set temperature or turn the system on and off.
  • Google Home / Google Assistant — integrates with Google Home routines and Nest displays.
  • Apple HomeKit — manage your floor heating from the Apple Home app and Siri.

The nJoy also works with the dedicated nJoy app (iOS and Android), which gives you full remote control including scheduling, temperature adjustments, and energy usage history from anywhere.

The nHance (UDG4-4999) and nTrust (UTN5-4999) thermostats are not WiFi-enabled and do not integrate with smart home platforms. They must be controlled locally at the wall unit.

Yes, the sensor wires may be trimmed.  Most local code requirements call for 6“-7“ of extra wire from the gang box.

Yes! Wiring your mirror defogger to your bathroom’s lighting circuit means it turns on automatically whenever you switch on the lights. This smart setup makes your fog-free mirror a seamless, hassle-free part of your daily routine—no extra switches, no forgetting to turn it on.

Yes — that's exactly what dual connection towel warmers are designed for. Here's how the conversion works:

  1. Start plug-in: The unit ships with a standard plug-in cord. Mount it to the wall and plug it in — no electrician needed.
  2. Decide on permanent placement: Once you've found the ideal location, have a licensed electrician convert the connection.
  3. Remove the cord: The electrician disconnects the plug-in cord and wires the unit directly into your home's electrical circuit.
  4. No cover plate needed: Dual connect models are designed without a junction box cover plate, so the finished installation looks clean and balanced.

The unit maintains its cETLus safety listing in both configurations. This flexibility is ideal for homeowners who want to install now and renovate later, or who aren't sure about permanent placement yet.

No, the RC-40AMP is controlled by a line voltage (120V/240V) thermostat.

We strongly recommend using one thermostat for each room/zone. This will help the system operate more efficiently while making it easier to customize the heating needs of each space. But it is possible to use one thermostat to control floor heating in two separate rooms along with power modules. All installations must comply with local Electrical Codes.
