How a 120V TempZone Flex Roll turned the stone-and-tile bathroom of a mobile tiny house into a warm, dry spa retreat
In the “Tiny Living, Living Large” mobile tiny house, the bathroom’s tile and stone floor had to look luxurious without feeling like an ice box. Creators Julia V. and Robert Barclay partnered with WarmlyYours to install a TempZone Flex Roll under 14 sq. ft. of tile, giving the compact room steady warmth for about $0.048 an hour.

The Problem: Beautiful Tile in a Home Exposed to the Elements
A tiny house on the move faces the weather on every side, and its tile and stone bathroom floor showed it. Every step out of the shower meant a cold floor, and in a space this small there was no room for a bulky heater to fix it.
The Solution: A Cut-and-Turn Heating Cable Around Tight Fixtures
The TempZone Flex Roll’s cut-and-turn mesh let the heating cable follow the bathroom’s compact plumbing and fixtures across 14 sq. ft. Robert Barclay used a Circuit Check during the build to monitor the cable before the floor was finished, and a membrane and tile were set over the heating cable. An Integration Relay (120V) connects the floor heating to the home’s Control4 automation system.
The Outcome: Spa Warmth That Travels With the House
The tile floor now acts as a gentle radiator, keeping the bathroom warm and dry even when the tiny house is parked through a New Jersey winter. The project shows that a small footprint doesn’t have to mean giving up comfort.
Comparative Cost Highlight
Operating at approximately $0.048/hour, this system costs roughly $11.50/month at 8 hours a day—less than a streaming subscription—while providing unmatched barefoot comfort.
