This project showcases the installation of a WarmlyYours Environ Flex Roll radiant heating system under a new carpet in a 120 sq. ft. bedroom in Palos Heights, IL, creating a comfortable and cozy living space.
The primary objective was to install a comfortable and energy-efficient heating solution under a new stretch-in carpet. The project was carefully planned to heat 120 square feet of the room's total 164 square feet, ensuring full coverage in the usable areas while leaving space for fixtures.
The system is powered by two Environ Flex Rolls, specifically a 1.5' x 45' roll and a 1.5' x 35' roll. The innovative, ultra-thin foil technology of the Environ system is ideal for this application, as it doesn't significantly raise the floor height. The rolls are designed for easy installation, requiring no adhesive and can be cut and turned to fit the unique dimensions of the room, ensuring even heat distribution at 12 watts per square foot.
The system is managed by the nSpire Touch Thermostat, a sophisticated control unit that offers more than just basic temperature management. The thermostat features a 3.5" full-color touchscreen and is programmable, allowing the homeowner to set up to six temperature events per day, perfectly aligning the heating schedule with their daily routine. For enhanced safety and precision, the thermostat includes a built-in Class A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) and a floor sensor. The GFCI provides crucial electrical protection by instantly cutting power if it detects a ground fault, a key safety feature for any electric floor heating system. The floor sensor ensures the system heats the floor to a specific, comfortable temperature without overheating, which is especially important for preserving the integrity of the carpet and the comfort of the occupants.
