Project Information

When designing this beautiful master bathroom in Chatham, NJ, Kraftmaster Renovations aimed for a high-end finish that maximized comfort. Tile, marble, and stone are durable and attractive floor coverings, but they are notoriously cold underfoot, especially in New Jersey winters. The homeowner wanted a comfort upgrade that addressed this problem without the noise and inefficiency of a forced-air register.
Kraftmaster Renovations selected the WarmlyYours TempZone™ Floor Heating Cable system to deliver customized electric floor heating. The flexible cable was laid over the subfloor, embedded in the tile setting material using a Prodeso Uncoupling Membrane. The membrane serves the dual purpose of protecting the floor from subfloor movement (preventing tile cracking) while providing a secure channel to hold the heating cable in place at the optimal 3.75-inch spacing for full heat coverage across the 118 sq. ft. area. The resulting system is completely concealed, maintenance-free, and delivers gentle, even floor warming from the ground up, turning a cold floor into a cozy centerpiece.

Featured Products

TempZone™ Floor Heating Cable (TCT120-3.7W-375): The core of the system, this cable is installed in customized patterns to heat a specific area, ideal for irregularly shaped rooms and working around fixtures. At $3.7$ watts per foot, it delivers powerful, custom-output electric floor heating (1395  W for this project).
nSpire Touch Thermostat (UDG4-4999-WY): A programmable, user-friendly control that features a $3.5$” color touchscreen, a Class A GFCI, and a floor sensor to precisely manage the floor warming schedule and temperature for optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
Circuit Check (SS-01): This essential installation tool monitors the electrical resistance of the heating cable during and after installation, alerting the installer to any accidental damage to the wire, ensuring a successful, worry-free setup.
Prodeso Membrane Roll (TC-MEM-BL-162): An uncoupling and crack isolation membrane used beneath the tile, which provides a fast and reliable method for installing the heating cable while protecting the tile, marble, or stone finish. The larger 162  sq. ft. roll was used to cover the majority of the subfloor.

    * This 118 sq. ft. in-floor heating system provides premium radiant comfort for just about $0.06 per hour to run. This translates to an incredibly affordable ~$0.48 per day (based on 8 hours of use) or less than $15 per month. For the luxury of a warm floor in a large master bathroom, this operating cost demonstrates the remarkable energy efficiency and high value provided by electric radiant floor heating.

The cost to run a heated floor is highly affordable. For this 118 sq. ft. master bathroom in Chatham, NJ, the running cost is approximately $0.06 per hour. This low operating cost makes electric floor heating a luxurious yet practical upgrade, often costing less than a dollar a day to enjoy warm floors during peak usage hours.
Tile, marble, and natural stone are the ideal flooring materials for electric radiant floor heating. These materials have high thermal conductivity, meaning they heat up quickly and retain the radiant heat exceptionally well, making the system highly energy efficient and maximizing the comfort of the floor warming.
Yes, in well-insulated spaces like this remodeled master bathroom, the TempZone™ Cable system can be powerful enough to serve as the primary heat source, often referred to as "ambient heat." While it is primarily for floor warming comfort, the 1395 Watts of heat output for the 118 sq. ft. area provides substantial heat, allowing you to turn down or even eliminate the use of less efficient main heating vents in that specific room.
Yes, electric radiant floor heating is highly energy efficient, especially when used with an insulated subfloor and a programmable thermostat like the nSpire Touch. It delivers heat directly to the occupants and objects in the room, unlike forced-air systems that heat air which quickly rises and is lost. This targeted heating means you can keep the air temperature lower and still feel perfectly comfortable, saving energy and lowering your overall heating bills
