Why and How to Install a WarmlyYours Radiant Panel

Learn about the benefits of radiant panels and the step-by-step installation process.

Hello and thank you for joining today's webinar, "Why and How to Install a WarmlyYours Radiant Panel," hosted by WarmlyYours radiant heating. I'm your moderator, Scott Rosenbaum, and I'm going to take the next 20 minutes or so to talk to you about the benefits of radiant panels and go over the installation process step by step. Radiant panels are very easy to install. They come with a great five-year manufacturer warranty and are supplied with 24/7 signature service for the lifetime of the product.

Radiant panels utilize sustainable and healthy infrared heat. They serve as a functional piece of art and can be used as either a primary or auxiliary heat source. If you're considering using them as a primary heat source, it is indeed possible, depending on the insulation level of the room where they will be installed. The better insulated the room, the more heat will be retained, allowing for effective heating. Additionally, most WarmlyYours radiant panels can also function as towel warmers. The units are CULUS and TUV listed for both the United States and Canada.

We offer two types of radiant panels: the Ember and the Lava. The Ember, which is a plug-in unit, is located on the left side, while the Lava is hardwired into your wall and controlled by a thermostat. The Ember comes in various models, including the Ember glass, available in black and white, with sizes such as 35 by 24 inches for the 600-watt version and 47 by 24 inches for the 800-watt version. The Ember mirror serves as a replacement for a traditional mirror, measuring 35 by 24 inches and providing 600 watts of heat.

On the other hand, the Lava panels are available in several styles, including Lava glass in pure white, white-green, red, and black. They come in sizes ranging from 25 by 20 inches for the 250-watt unit to 63 by 25 inches for the 1000-watt unit. The Lava mirrors also replace traditional mirrors and are available in similar sizes. The Lava crystal features crystals embedded into the front of the unit, available in sizes from 35 by 25 inches to 63 by 25 inches, providing between 500 to 1000 watts of heating. Lastly, the Lava Light has a mirrored finish with light strips, available in sizes of 47 by 35 inches for the 350-watt unit and 63 by 35 inches for the 590-watt unit.

When it comes to accessories and controls, the Ember unit includes towel warmers and a ceiling mount kit, allowing for versatile installation options. You can even control the Ember using a Wemo switch made by Belkin, which allows for Wi-Fi control from your smartphone. The Lava unit, located at the bottom of our accessory lineup, offers optional towel bars in flat or round designs, along with an LED light kit that enhances the aesthetic appeal by illuminating the edges in various colors. The Lava is controlled by a smart thermostat, with the LEDs and towel bars available as optional accessories.

The installation process for the Ember unit is straightforward. It features four mounting positions on the back, allowing you to choose between horizontal or vertical installation. The unit comes with a template that you can place on the wall to mark the screw locations. Ideally, you should secure at least two screws into a stud for stability. If you decide to install it horizontally, you will use the designated red spots on the template to mark your holes. Conversely, if you opt for a vertical installation, you will need to determine where the power will enter the unit, which can be positioned at the top, bottom, or either side.

Once you have marked the locations for drilling, you can proceed to drill the holes and insert anchors as shown in the installation video. After securing the screws in the wall, simply lift the unit and align it with the cutouts on the back. Once mounted, plug it in, and your radiant panel will be ready for use.

For those interested in a visual guide, we have an installation video available that demonstrates how easy it is to install the Ember radiant panel. In the video, I will walk you through the necessary tools, including the installation template and the Ember radiant panel itself. The template is the same size as the unit, allowing you to visualize how it will appear on your wall.

As you prepare to install, pay attention to the location of the power connection box, which is typically found in the lower left corner. Depending on your preference for the power cord's exit point, you can choose to mount the unit with the power box in the upper left or lower right corner. Once you have determined the orientation, use a level to ensure the unit is straight before marking the screw locations on the wall.

After marking the locations, remove the template and insert the wall anchors. It's advisable to use a stud finder to secure at least one or two screws into a stud for added support. If that’s not possible, the included wall anchors will suffice. Once the screws are in place, attach felt pads to the back of the unit to prevent scratching the wall during installation.

With the screws protruding approximately 15 millimeters from the wall, it’s helpful to have a partner assist you in lifting the Ember onto the screws. After mounting, simply plug in the nine-foot power cord into a nearby outlet to activate the system. For further assistance, you can visit our website or contact us directly at 800-875-5285.

If you have questions about installing the Lava unit, installation videos are also available on our website. Should you need additional information or assistance, please reach out to your account manager or contact our tech support team at 800-875-5285, available 24/7.

One common question we receive is how to determine the appropriate size of the panel needed. To do this, measure the square footage of your room and select a panel that provides between six to eight watts per square foot. For example, in a 100 square foot room, you would need a 700-watt unit for optimal comfort.

The Lava unit is controlled via a TH115 series thermostat, which is hardwired into the wall. This thermostat allows you to set and maintain your desired room temperature, with programmable features for convenience. Another frequently asked question is whether the unit can overheat. Rest assured, the unit is designed to operate safely; it has built-in temperature limiters that prevent overheating by turning off when a certain temperature is reached.

Additionally, many units come with an accessory towel bar that can be mounted for added functionality. However, it’s important to note that the unit itself operates in an on/off manner, meaning it does not regulate temperature in a continuous manner but rather by adjusting the duration of heating cycles.
