Snow and Ice Melting WiFi Control Description

The WarmlyYours SCW-120-15A Snow and Ice Melting WiFi Control is a flexible, user-friendly, and affordable control option for snow melting and roof and gutter deicing systems. This unit features a built-in 120V WiFi standard switch and can be used without a relay panel for projects with an amperage draw of 15 Amps or less. However, for projects with an amperage draw that is greater than 15 Amps, the controller must be used with a compatible relay panel. Using a relay panel, sold separately, allows control of larger jobs and can help switch voltages ranging from 120V to 277V.

This WiFi enabled built-in switch opens a variety of possibilities for how you operate your snow melting system. The easy access switch can be used manually like a traditional on/off switch or you can operate it remotely with your smart device. This control is compatible with various home automation systems like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Home/Siri, Schlage, and SmartThings. Additionally, it can be tied to an If This Then That (IFTTT) account. The IFTTT service has a weather app which allows for the SCW-120-15A Snow and Ice Melting WiFi Control to turn the system on based on weather events.

This control comes with integrated removable knockouts (4 on each side) so that you can run conduits through them without having to cut the metal box.

It can even be paired with various open-source/open-standard software to create a non-proprietary control solution.

Features:

  • Can be controlled/programmed remotely with a smart device via the free 'My Leviton' app
  • Sleek design means this control presents a streamlined appearance when installed
  • Works with My Leviton, Amazon Alexa, Hey Google, Apple Home/Siri, Schlage, SmartThings, or IFTTT (no hub required)

Customer Questions & Answers

Snow and Ice Melting WiFi Control has 27 Questions and Answers.

Don't see the answer you're looking for? Post your question

How quickly do these systems melt the snow?

That depends on a number of variables (like the temperature outside) but generally speaking these snow melting systems are designed to melt 1" - 3" of snow per hour. Anything above 3" per hour is typically considered blizzard conditions.

Is it okay to cut the snow melting cable if it is too long for the application for which it was designed?

Never cut the heating cable. A heating cable will not work if it has been cut. If the heating cable is too long, call WarmlyYours to consult with a technician who will guide you in utilizing the additional length of cable.

How does the electric snow melting system compare to hot water tubing (hydronic) systems?

The material costs are similar. However, electric systems are easier to install, with fewer components and significantly lower maintenance costs. Electric systems will run for a shorter period of time to give the same level of performance but with much higher energy efficiency (typically 95%-98% efficient). Controls and sensors required for the two types of systems are very similar. Electric systems do not usually require slab insulation and do not create the concerns typically associated with hydronic systems. These concerns include, but are not limited to, return temperatures, flue gas venting, waterway shrinkage and property damage caused by leaking pipes or tubes.

May I cross or overlap the WarmlyYours snow melt heating cable?

When installing outdoor WarmlyYours snow melting cables for your driveway, patio, walkway, terrace, stairs, ramp, etc. - NEVER cross, overlap, or allow the heating cables to touch each other. Doing so will quickly cause a circuit failure due to excessive heat build up. Always follow the installation instructions and/or design layout plan to ensure the cable is installed with the correct spacing required for proper operation.

Does the factory splice need to be completely embedded during installation?

Yes. The manufacturer's splice that connects the heating element to the cold lead should be entirely embedded in a noncombustible material (like asphalt, concrete, or mortar) within the outdoor surface that is being heated.

Best service ever!

Marc C., Salt Lake City, UT on 10/19/2023

Mary was fantastic at listening and helping me find the best solution to melt ice and snow on my exterior stairs. Mary was kind and patient as this had many challenges and Mary worked through them all like a champ. We love our new system and love not shoveling.

Good quality product

John E., Lakewood, CO on 06/21/2022

WarmlyYours is a good quality product. The mat was installed this spring. I haven't connected it to power yet. Technical support through the process was excellent . The product shipped and arrived on time. The price seemed a little high but sales staff worked with me to eliminate items I didn't really need to reduce the overall costs to a more palatable level. Recommend it!

No ice in front of the garage doors for the first time in years!

Anonymous, Leawood, KS on 05/06/2022

Our snow melting system was installed this fall and for the first time in years we did not have ice in front of the garage doors for weeks in the winter. The WarmlyYours staff were great to work with and answered our many questions with patience and knowledge.

We are happy we made the purchase

Anonymous, Denver, CO on 04/03/2022

Great product, very convenient to use the app to control our system.

Just as advertised!

Cory W., Sidney, MT on 02/15/2021

We have only had the chance to use it during the last storm~not complaining about that at all. The heated sidewalk worked just as it had been represented. Melted the snow enough to make it easy to remove & when it froze later, turning the heat on for a few hours took care of it. Very happy with this purchase.

Great Staff

Anonymous, Amherst, NS on 02/15/2021

During the ordering process I was contacted multiple times to make sure the product I was getting was exactly what I needed. The switch cover came damaged as it appeared to be put on a little too tightly and it cracked. The staff were more than happy to send me a replacement. I purchased these in the winter to have on hand for spring when they will be installed so I can’t speak to how well they work at this time. I’d definitely order from them again though just based on the customer service I’ve received.
