TempZone™ Floor Heating Ruler Cable Description
A cost-effective alternative to using the Prodeso Cable Installation Membrane, GripStrips Floor Heating Cable Fixing Strips are used for securing TempZone™ floor heating cables in place on floors at predetermined spacing to ensure even heating. These plastic strips enable you to keep the heating cable secured in position, uniformly positioned across the floor, while you install the floor adhesive. The cable fixing strips are 1 3/8" x 12 3/4" x 1/4" with studs every inch to allow for 3" or 4" spacing of the heating cable.
GripStrips are safer than metal fixing strips and are more durable than other comparable plastic strips on the market. They can be snapped together lengthwise for ease of installation. GripStrips come with three holes per strip to anchor the strips to the subfloor (alternatively they can be adhered to a clean subfloor--adhesive sold separately). Additionally, these strips have a unique design that allows them to "grip" around the cable to securely hold them in place while keeping tension on the cable during installation for maximum accuracy.
Every order of TempZone floor heating cables (without the Prodeso Membrane) will include a complimentary minimum quantity of fixing strips for installation. These items are additional or replacement strips that you can purchase.

Reflective insulation is not effective with conductive heating, which is how embedded floor heating and snow-melting systems transfer heat. To be effective, the reflective insulation surface needs to face an air space (air gap), which allows the reflected heat to be redirected.
An effective solution considers the insulating material's R-Value. This is the rating of a material's insulating properties. The "R" stands for "resistance" and refers to the material's resistance to heat flow, or temperature conduction.
As you install, compare the footage markings printed on the heating cable to the reference footages on your custom SmartPlan™. If they match at each reference point, you’re on track. If the cable reading is higher, too much cable was used in the previous section; if it’s lower, you used less cable than designed.
Keep the power lead factory splice and the cable end seal outside the shower area and at least 1 ft. away from shower openings or other spots normally exposed to water. The control must be located at least 4 ft. from shower openings, where it cannot be exposed to water or touched by someone in the shower.
