A rug or desk heater’s protective plug fails its test

Stop using the heater and identify the original protection before arranging service.

Unplug the heater if its protective plug fails the manufacturer’s test/reset procedure, is damaged or repeatedly trips. Do not bypass the protection or assume any 15 A hardware-store GFCI plug is an approved replacement.

The legacy WarmlyYours Under Area Rug Warmer manual identifies its plug as an appliance leakage current interrupter (ALCI). For that pictured design, the white test button should disconnect power and the red reset button restores it. An unsuccessful test requires WarmlyYours technical-support assistance.

Record the heater model, plug markings and purchase information. A desk heater or another rug-heater generation may use different protection, so follow its own manual. Use only a manufacturer-approved service arrangement or replace the appliance if an approved repair is unavailable. Do not cut off the original plug to fit an unverified substitute.

The legacy rug-warmer manual describes a one-year warranty from sale; the model name alone does not establish a particular customer’s warranty status or current parts availability.
