How Radiant Floor Heating Transformed This Master Suite into a Spa-Like Retreat

Master Bath - 3:2 format

Looking for a luxurious bathroom upgrade that adds daily comfort? Electric floor heating might be the feature you didn’t think of first—but once you hear about it, it’s hard to imagine your space without it. That’s exactly what happened in this standout project from Stephanie Bruntz, Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) and manager at Studio B Design in Kearney, Nebraska.

Designer Spotlight: How Stephanie Bruntz Used Radiant Heat to Create Spa-Like Comfort

Great design starts with listening.

Details matter to designer Stephanie Bruntz. When she begins working with clients, her goal is to bring their renovation dreams to life. For her, the key is to listen to the clients’ ideas collectively to get a clear sense of their preferences—as well as the pieces they can’t quite describe themselves.

“When you get to know them as people and not just customers, you have a very good chance at creating a space that is just like they imagined it,” Bruntz says.

How This Nebraska Master Suite Was Designed Like a Spa Retreat

The client’s dream was simple: turn a blank space into a timeless retreat.

A client living in a very small town in northern Nebraska heard about Studio B on the radio. She and her husband had recently completed a room addition that included a big, empty space they dreamed would one day become a grand master bathroom.

Hearing that Studio B was a “one stop shop” to help oversee all the nuances of the remodeling process, the client booked an appointment. Her vision was clear: a classic spa look—serene, timeless, and calming.

“She wanted to feel like she was getting away to the spa in her own bathroom every day,” Bruntz recalled.

Why Radiant Floor Heating Was the Right Choice

Tile floors plus radiant heat delivered the cozy, spa-like touch.

Because the client was open to suggestions for all areas of the project, Bruntz recommended electric heated floors from WarmlyYours Radiant Heating in both the bathroom and the walk-in closet, since both spaces were being tiled.

“She immediately loved the idea of heating the floors,” Bruntz shared. “It is not something you think about initially, but once you hear it, it almost feels like, ‘Well now we have to have it.’”

Bruntz said the decision added to the overall luxury and warmth of the room and played perfectly into the pampered spa feel the couple wanted.

Does It Make Sense to Heat a Walk-In Closet?

A small investment, a big difference.

For this project, heating the walk-in closet didn’t add much cost—but it definitely added comfort.

“We were already laying tile and had the circuit for the bathroom, so the cost was not that much more to install in the closets,” said Bruntz. “But the impact was substantial.”

Why? Because the closet isn’t just storage—it’s where you start and end your day.

“Think about all the time you spend standing in your closet picking out clothes and getting dressed,” she added. “When designing, I think about comfort. I try to have my clients consider all the little details so that when everything is done, they get exactly what they wanted.”

Radiant heat in unexpected spaces like closets can elevate the whole experience—without inflating the budget.

How SmartPlan™ Made Installation Simple and Seamless

WarmlyYours SmartPlans help ensure a smooth, worry-free install.

Bruntz utilized the free SmartPlan™ from the WarmlyYours Installation Support Team and said the entire process went smoothly.

“I never received a phone call about it during installation, which is exactly what you want,” she shared.

The finished bathroom features a monochromatic palette, natural stone, and a travertine tub deck, all set off by rich cherry cabinetry. The client said the final space felt exactly like what she had imagined.

“I’m always so happy when a project becomes exactly what the client was hoping for,” Bruntz said.

What’s the Cost to Run Radiant Heating in This Spa-Inspired Master Suite?

Luxury comfort doesn’t have to come with high energy bills.

  • Master Bathroom:

    • 207 sq. ft. of heated area

    • 2,295 watts

    • Estimated operating cost: $0.30–$0.35 per hour (at $0.13/kWh)

  • Walk-In Closet:

    • 100 sq. ft. of heated area

    • 1,283 watts

    • Estimated operating cost: $0.15–$0.20 per hour (at $0.13/kWh)

Combined total:

Less than $0.55/hour for spa-level comfort in both rooms.
