Designing for Accessibility and Comfort

This project was far more than a standard renovation; it was a community effort for a local hero. The primary challenge was to create a fully ADA-accessible master bathroom that was not only functional but also incredibly comfortable. Cold tile floors, while durable and necessary for a wet room, can be a significant source of discomfort, especially for a user with mobility and health challenges.

The installer, Michaelson Homes, designed a beautiful, accessible space and sought a way to add a layer of luxury and comfort. They chose a WarmlyYours TempZone™ Flex Roll system for its ease of installation and reliable performance. The 45 sq. ft. roll was laid out across the main floor area before the new tile and marble flooring was set. WarmlyYours was honored to donate the in-floor heating system for this very deserving customer.

The new master bathroom is now a haven of comfort. The radiant floor heating system provides gentle, even heat from the ground up, eliminating the cold shock of tile floors. This small addition makes a huge difference in daily comfort, turning a practical necessity into a soothing, spa-like experience.

Featured Products

  • TempZone™ Flex Roll This is our most popular electric floor heating solution. The roll consists of the heating cable affixed to a green mesh backing, allowing for fast and simple roll-out installation. It's the perfect choice for rectangular or square rooms like this bathroom.
  • nSpire Touch Thermostat This programmable thermostat features a 3.5” color touchscreen and a modern, white faceplate. It's simple to set up a 7-day schedule to maximize comfort and energy efficiency, ensuring the floor is warm when it's needed most.
  • Circuit Check A vital installation tool, the Circuit Check audibly and visually monitors the heating element during the entire installation process. This ensures the system isn't damaged before, during, or after the tile is installed.

* Running this 45 sq. ft. radiant floor heating system is surprisingly affordable. Based on current Cincinnati, OH electricity rates (approx. $0.17/kWh), it costs just $0.11 per hour to run. That's only $0.88 per day (for 8 hours of use) or about $26.40 per month to enjoy luxurious, warm tile floors every single day!

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost depends on the size of the room and your local electricity rates. For this 45 sq. ft. Cincinnati bathroom, it costs about $0.11 per hour. A larger bathroom (e.g., 100 sq. ft.) in the same area might cost around $0.25 per hour to operate.
In many cases, yes. Electric floor warming is very efficient and can often serve as the primary heat source for a smaller, well-insulated room like a bathroom, especially in a home that is already well-insulated.
This system is ideal for tile, marble, or stone floors, as seen in this project. These materials are excellent conductors of heat. The system is also compatible with other flooring types, including laminate and luxury vinyl, when installed correctly (typically embedded in self-leveling cement).
Yes. Radiant heat warms objects and people directly, not just the air (which rises to the ceiling). This is a very efficient form of heat transfer. When paired with a programmable thermostat, you only use energy precisely when and where you want it, reducing waste compared to forced-air systems.
