Don't Install Radiant Heating on Concrete Until You Watch This
Stop Heat Loss with Underfloor Concrete Insulation
Ever wonder why your room feels warm, yet your floor remains uncomfortably cold beneath your feet?
In this video, our radiant heating experts reveal how an uninsulated concrete slab acts as a massive heat sink in spaces like basements, sunrooms, and laundry rooms. When you install radiant floor heating directly over cold concrete, the slab absorbs the thermal energy before it can warm your living space. Discover how pairing an insulating underlayment with your heating elements drastically cuts heat loss and speeds up warm-up times.

The room feels warm, so why is the floor still cold? That concrete underneath deserves a closer look. Whether it's a basement, sunroom, or laundry room, an uninsulated concrete slab can act as a giant heat sink, absorbing warmth you want at the floor. Adding floor heating? Plan for insulation beneath it.
An insulating underlayment helps reduce heat loss into the slab and speeds warm-up. The insulation and heating system do different jobs. You want both working together. Before you cover that concrete, plan what goes above it. Start with the slab, not just the surface, and get a floor heating plan for your room.
Izolacyjna warstwa podkładowa pomaga ograniczyć utratę ciepła do płyty i przyspiesza nagrzewanie. Izolacja i system ogrzewania pełnią różne funkcje.

Yes, insulating underlayment is highly recommended when installing floor heating over concrete. It prevents the slab from acting as a "heat sink," which draws heat away from the floor. Using insulation like CeraZorb® ensures faster heat-up times and significantly improves the energy efficiency of your system.
