This stunning, sun-soaked master bathroom in Tower Lakes, Illinois, was a beautiful remodel, but its large 167 sq. ft. size and extensive tile and marble flooring made for a chilly experience. The installer, Advance Design Studio Ltd, solved this by integrating a WarmlyYours electric floor heating system. The installation provides luxurious, even floor warming throughout the space, transforming a cold room into a cozy retreat and adding significant value to the home.

From Cold Tile to a Cozy Oasis

The goal for this Tower Lakes bathroom was to create a "sun-soaked" retreat. With a 167 sq. ft. layout featuring a substantial walk-in shower, a toilet nook, a double vanity, and a beautiful stand-alone tub under a skylight, the space was designed for luxury. However, the expansive marble and tile flooring, while beautiful, would have been uncomfortably cold, especially during Illinois winters.

To solve this comfort challenge, Advance Design Studio Ltd selected the TempZone™ Flex Roll system to provide complete in-floor heating. The 105 sq. ft. roll was installed over the wood subfloor, covering the main walking areas, from the vanity to the tub and the entrance of the walk-in shower. This ensures that every step taken in the bathroom is met with consistent, gentle warmth.

The result is a master bathroom that delivers on its "sun-soaked" promise—not just with light, but with tangible warmth. The electric radiant floor heating system is controlled by an nSpire Touch programmable thermostat, allowing the homeowners to set heating schedules for ultimate convenience and efficiency. This upgrade transforms the cold stone into a cozy, inviting surface, elevating the daily routine to a true spa-like experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a bathroom this size (105 sq. ft. heated area) in Illinois, the operating cost is surprisingly low. It costs about $0.24 per hour to run. By using the programmable thermostat to run for just 4 hours a day (mornings and evenings), the total monthly cost can be under $30.
Yes, electric floor heating is highly efficient. It heats the occupants and objects in the room directly from the ground up (radiant heat) rather than just heating the air (convection). This results in less heat loss, a more comfortable feeling at a lower thermostat setting, and improved energy efficiency.
The TempZone™ system is perfect for flooring like the tile, marble, and stone used in this project, as these materials are excellent conductors of heat. This system is also compatible with many other flooring types, including laminate and luxury vinyl.
Absolutely. In fact, it's an ideal solution. A large room with high ceilings or a skylight can feel drafty with traditional heating. Radiant floor heating provides consistent, even warmth from the floor up, eliminating cold spots and making the entire 167 sq. ft. room feel comfortable and cozy.
