Value Snow Melt Control Description
Thisconfigurableaerial snow melting controller makes automatic snow melting cost-effective ineven the smallest applications. Heaters operate at temperatures below thedefault set point (38°F or 3.3°C) only when the sensor detects precipitation attemperatures below 38°F. Plus, the adjustable hold-on period (3 hours default)continues heater operation after snow stops to ensure complete melting. TheSCV-DUAL controller includes an internal magnetic reed switch used for manualheater cycling, as well as configuring the temperature set point and thehold-on time. The controller operates from 100 to 240 VAC to work with a widevariety of applications. It also controls heater loads up to 16 amps.

Enter the configuration process (display) by holding the magnet next to the switch for 3 seconds, the green LED goes off. Remove the magnet.
The SCV will then pulse the green LED with the values of each Field in sequence, repeatedly:
- Field 1 (Hold-On) will pulse once for off, twice for 1 hour, three times(default) for 3 hours, and four times for 5 hours.
- Two second pause.
- Field 2 (Temp) will pulse once for no temp selected, twice for 36°F/2.2°C, three times(default) for 38°F/3.3°C, and four times for 40*F/4.4°C.
- Two second pause.
- Field 3 (Lockout) will pulse once(defaut) for disabled and twice for enabled.
- Four second pause.
Sequence starts over.
The SCV-DUAL can switch loads up to and including 16 amps (resistive) at 120V or 240V. A relay is not required for jobs this size: the heaters can be wired directly to the control. For jobs above 16 amps, a relay panel is required, and the heaters would be connected to the panel/s instead of directly to the control.
Our systems can handle low temperatures, but many controls come equipped with a Low-Temperature Lockout Feature. This feature prevents the system from running in very low temperatures. At very low temperatures it can become difficult for the system to effectively melt the snow. It is however possible to turn off this feature should you need the system to keep running during such low temperatures.
All of our automatic controllers have a Hold-on time feature after the initial warming up of the snow melt system. This feature ensures that all the snow is melted from the surface, and also that the system continues to operate and evaporate the surface water without it refreezing.
