Our master bathroom is always freezing!
We live in one of those homes that doesn't have a bathroom door in the master bedroom. So, when we decided to remodel, I was all about doing something to make the area warmer. (You wouldn't think this is something to worry about in SoCal, but it is!) We talked about building a door to keep the heat in, but that was going to be a big job and we weren't sure we would like another door, in a small space.
I started investigating heat panels as a different option and found WarmlyYours online. Our contractor had never heard of the panel, but was game to install it. I bought the timer switch to go with and we had it hardwired in.
Wow, what a difference it has made! Not too hot, just enough to take the cold edge off. The panel looks great on the wall; we are so happy to find this unique answer to our remodel problem. I would (and have) recommend these radiant heat panels to anyone.

I had this product installed in my recently renovated bathroom and it’s perfection.
A warm floor on a cold day is a real treat, and the whole room is cozy. It’s a small bathroom so the cost was a fraction of the whole project. I don’t notice any increase in my electric bill, but if I did it would be worth it to me since I’m not using the gas-fired (fossil fuel) boiler for that room. Speaking of which, removing the radiator gave me more floor space for a wider vanity. If your vanity is on legs, a tip I have for you is to extend the system about an inch or two under the vanity to keep your toes warm. This is my first heated floor, but when it comes time to replace any other floors of my home, I will definitely install this system. The company was so easy to work with, and Pauline has all the answers you want, including what you don’t know you need. This was also the first time my contractor installed this system, and he had no issues at all after watching the installation video and once he realized he had to set the control to heat “tile” flooring. Be aware that you’ll need to install a dedicated electrical line to the controller. The controller is programmable so that you can set the operational time and the temperature of the heating elements. It’s already cold in NY so I just keep mine on most of the day since I’m working from home.
Another plus for me is that this is a woman-owned business. There’s no downside to working with WarmlyYours.

I used this pre-made shower pan and waterproofing kit for the first time and liked it.
I do about 10-15 mud set tile showers a year and generally build my pan from scratch with pan liner and mortar, then I use hardi backer brand concrete board on the walls, then I tape and mud all seams followed by 3 coats of Redguard. That process takes 3 days always because of cure times. I prepped a 4' x 3.5' shower with 9' walls in one long day the first time I used this system. I put the pan in, hung the concrete board, and put on all the waterproofing on the first day and started setting tile the following day. Obviously this is a big time saver and will go faster the next time I use this system. The one tricky part is hooking up the drain. My job was a second floor bathroom remodel with no access to the drain pipe from below, so I had to make the glue connection as I set the pan. That just made it a bit more challenging the first time out. Setting the pan and drain first and then making the drain connection later is definitely the easier way to go if possible.

Heated shower floors are one of the most affordable radiant heating projects because shower zones are small. TempZone Shower Floor Mats typically cost $10–$15 per square foot. For a standard 25 sq.ft. shower with about 15 heated square feet, expect to spend between $150 and $225 on the heating mat alone. Add a programmable thermostat ($100–$250) for a complete system.
Operating costs are minimal—a shower zone this size costs just $0.02–$0.05 per hour to run. Many homeowners program the thermostat to warm the shower floor for an hour or two each morning, keeping monthly costs well under $5. Use the calculator below to estimate your exact operating costs based on your shower size and local electricity rates.

Heating Systems for Your Shower
Whether you're installing a traditional tiled shower, a curbless shower, or an entire wet room, radiant heating can help make these beautiful installations feel as good as they look. Our TempZone™ Shower Floor Mats and Shower Bench Mats are a great option for these applications. Both products are easy to install in either a tiled shower floor or a tiled shower bench.
TempZone™ Shower Mats have been exclusively designed to provide warmth to a shower floor. The TempZone™ Shower Floor Mats ensure that your first step into your shower is a warm and soothing experience. The Shower Floor Mats are engineered to cover traditional shower floor areas and have taken the shower drain into consideration with a pre-cut hole to accommodate it.
TempZone™ Shower Bench Mats have been designed to provide warmth to a shower bench and provide a luxuriant experience. Our Shower Bench Mats are installed beneath the shower bench itself so that they can efficiently radiate heat upwards.
Every complete WarmlyYours floor heating system—TempZone™, Environ™, or Slab Heat—ships with two floor sensors: one with the heating mat or cable and one with the thermostat. Install the backup right beside the primary sensor and run both leads to the thermostat box, but connect only the primary; the backup stays disconnected until it is needed.
The floor sensor lives under your tile, wood, carpet, or concrete, where it tells the thermostat how warm the floor really is. If that sensor is ever nicked during installation or fails years down the road, replacing it would normally mean tearing up the finished floor.
With the backup already embedded in the floor, the fix takes minutes: turn off power at the breaker, disconnect the original sensor at the thermostat, connect the backup, and your heat is back on. No torn-up floor, no new flooring, no second installation. Follow your thermostat's instructions, or have a qualified electrician make the swap.
Installer tip: Install both sensors side by side, centered between the heating wires, and test each one for 8–15 kΩ before covering the floor. For Slab Heat, place the sensors in capped 3/4″ rigid metal conduit between cable runs, clear of the heating cable, as the Slab Heat installation manual describes.
How to Install Floor Heating in a Shower
TempZone Shower Mats install under tile in shower floors and benches. The key difference from standard floor heating is the waterproofing step—a waterproofing membrane must be applied over the entire assembly before tile is installed. Our shower mats are UL-listed for wet environments.
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1: Ensure the shower pan or substrate is properly sloped for drainage and structurally sound.
Step 2: Apply a layer of modified thinset to the shower floor or bench surface.
Step 3: Press the TempZone Shower Mat into the thinset, following your SmartPlan layout.
Step 4: Test the heating system with an ohmmeter—check resistance before, during, and after installation.
Step 5: Apply a waterproofing membrane over the entire assembly, including the mat and all seams.
Step 6: Install tile over the waterproofing membrane using modified thinset and the back-butter method.
Step 7: Allow thinset to fully cure before turning on the heating system. Wire the thermostat and enjoy a warm shower floor.
Important Considerations
Waterproofing is mandatory: A waterproofing membrane must cover the entire heated area, the mat, and all seams. This protects both the heating element and the structure beneath.
UL-listed for wet locations: TempZone Shower Mats are specifically listed for use in moisture-rich environments including shower floors and benches.
Curbless showers: For curbless or walk-in showers, check out our detailed installation guides for waterproofing techniques specific to barrier-free designs.
Absolutely. Both our shower floor and shower bench heating mats are rigorously tested and cULus listed for wet locations. They meet strict electrical safety standards for use in environments with direct water exposure.
Yes, you can wire both the main bathroom floor heating and the shower heating to the same thermostat, provided the total electrical draw does not exceed the thermostat’s limit (typically 15 amps). Keep in mind that both areas will be controlled together as a single temperature zone.
Yes, we offer TempZone™ Shower Bench Mats that are sized specifically for standard shower benches. Just like our shower floor mats, they are fully approved for wet locations to provide a warm, comfortable seating area.
Yes! Our TempZone™ Shower Floor Mats are specifically designed and cULus listed for wet locations, making them perfectly safe to install under tile or stone in your shower.
No, our TempZone™ shower heating mats feature a dual-conductor construction that emits virtually zero EMF, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment in your bathroom.
Yes. Because replacing a sensor under a finished shower floor or bench is difficult, our shower heating kits include a built-in backup floor sensor. If the primary sensor ever fails, you can simply connect the backup sensor to your thermostat without having to remove any tile.
The heating mats are laid flat and embedded directly into the thinset beneath your shower tile or stone. They feature a seamless design where the fiberglass mesh can be cut and turned to fit your specific layout, while the heating cable itself remains intact.
Our TempZone™ shower heating mats are ultra-thin, measuring just 1/8” thick. This low profile ensures they can be easily embedded in thinset without significantly raising the height of your shower floor or bench.
All TempZone™ shower floor and shower bench heating mats are backed by our industry-leading 25-year manufacturer warranty, along with 24/7 lifetime technical support.
TempZone™ shower heating mats are designed to be installed under tile, marble, or natural stone. These materials are ideal for wet locations and conduct radiant heat beautifully.
