Heated Tile Floor Systems for Bathrooms, Kitchens & More
A heated tile floor is a radiant heating system installed beneath ceramic, porcelain, marble, or stone tile — using electric heating cables or pre-spaced mats embedded in thinset mortar. Because tile and stone conduct heat efficiently, they're the ideal flooring for radiant systems: floors warm up quickly, hold heat longer than wood or carpet, and typically run on $0.15–$0.35 per hour for a standard bathroom. WarmlyYours TempZone™ systems start at $5/sq.ft. and include free SmartPlan installation design and a 25-year warranty.
Tile and stone are the ideal conductors for radiant heat—they heat up fast, retain warmth beautifully, and feel luxurious underfoot.
Perfect Heat ConductorTile and stone transfer heat more efficiently than any other flooring. Your floors reach target temperature faster and hold warmth longer.
No More Cold Tile ShockCold tile floors are the #1 complaint homeowners have. Radiant heating eliminates cold tile forever—every step on a heated tile floor is warm and comfortable.
Low Operating CostTile's thermal conductivity means lower energy costs. A typical heated tile floor costs just $0.07–$0.36/hour. Use our calculator below to estimate.
Installs During TilingTempZone mats and cables install right in the thinset layer—the same thinset you need for your tile. No extra construction step required.
Clean & Energy EfficientNo fans, no ductwork, no circulating dust. Radiant heat warms objects directly and is more efficient than forced-air systems.

We purchased WarmlyYours radiant floor heating mat through a local tile store 13 years ago.
The thermostat stopped working so we thought the floor heating mat also stopped working. I contacted WarmlyYours and decided to order a new thermostat hoping that was the problem with floor heating mat. We ordered the touch screen thermostat and had an electrician come to test the old thermostat and check the electrical connection to the floor heating mat. Turns out the problem was the thermostat. He installed the new touchscreen thermostat and waited to see if the floor heating mat started heating again and it did. I worked with two individuals at WarmlyYours, Hamid and another (unfortunately I don’t recall her name) individual. Hamid followed up to make sure everything was working properly before closing the customer support ticket assigned to my inquiry. It was great customer service and we had warm floors again during while the outside temperatures were in the teens.

Bought my current home 7 years ago with already installed heated marble bathroom floors and the thermostat appeared to go out....in winter😳😳😳.
Wasn't sure how to manage it as I'm separated from my husband and have been forced to manage things I had previously relagated as a "male" duty. When the device arrived I was unable to figure out how to get it installed....and called a helpline on a Sunday😬😬. And to my surprise, an actual person picked up the phone ❤️❤️. A technician called a day or two later to address my concerns, but I was on the road driving and unable to explain adequately the challenges I had faced attempting to install it😣😣. The technician forwarded me a video instruction guide and assured me that if this was insufficient to allow for successful installation, then he would gladly accept my phone call back.
The video was EASY to understand and in under an hour the thermostat was successfully installed and I've been enjoying heated floors in January AGAIN....thank God!!!
And thanks to WarmlyYours!

I had this product installed in my recently renovated bathroom and it’s perfection.
A warm floor on a cold day is a real treat, and the whole room is cozy. It’s a small bathroom so the cost was a fraction of the whole project. I don’t notice any increase in my electric bill, but if I did it would be worth it to me since I’m not using the gas-fired (fossil fuel) boiler for that room. Speaking of which, removing the radiator gave me more floor space for a wider vanity. If your vanity is on legs, a tip I have for you is to extend the system about an inch or two under the vanity to keep your toes warm. This is my first heated floor, but when it comes time to replace any other floors of my home, I will definitely install this system. The company was so easy to work with, and Pauline has all the answers you want, including what you don’t know you need. This was also the first time my contractor installed this system, and he had no issues at all after watching the installation video and once he realized he had to set the control to heat “tile” flooring. Be aware that you’ll need to install a dedicated electrical line to the controller. The controller is programmable so that you can set the operational time and the temperature of the heating elements. It’s already cold in NY so I just keep mine on most of the day since I’m working from home.
Another plus for me is that this is a woman-owned business. There’s no downside to working with WarmlyYours.

This is the second WarmlyYours product purchased - the first was underfloor tile mats for a master bathroom and they worked great.
I purchased the environ mat for my basement floor. The video says to lay 6mm poly, then cork, then the environ matting where needed and finally the floating hardwood. I hooked them up and they have worked flawlessly!!!!
I am soooo pleased with this product and my floors turned out amazing (I have had loads of compliments).
I have one little critique for future users...
I have found there is a slight bulging (and dips) over the mats which you can feel when walking on them, this is no fault of WarmlyYours product, but probably due to the floating floor design, but I feel consumers should be warned about final result.
By the way, the WarmlyYours organization should be congratulated on their customer service - they step and guide you through the whole process from ordering, installation and answering any and all questions.
Boy, when is the last time a business stood behind their product like this!!!
Hmmmm, I thinking about doing another room with heated floors, maybe a bedroom?????

I am a tile installer in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and this product is amazing!
I have installed several other in-floor heat systems and this is by far the easiest to work with and install. WarmlyYours is the only company that I have found actually gives a floor plan with a diagram showing how to lay out the heat system. Other electric systems simply give you a cord that is a set length and covers an approximate square footage. You as the installer have to install the wire fastening system to the floor yourself, and then guess at how far to space the wire; thus producing a lot of frustration and wasted time at the end when the heat wire needs to be removed and re-installed to make the length work out properly. I can set a 9'x6' area with WarmlyYours in approximately 2 hours. This includes pouring self-leveling mortar over the system. With other systems I can spend almost double that just setting the wire in place. There is no other in-floor heat system that I would rather use! WarmlyYours is hands down the best!

I have installed 2 of these for our clients and now removed and replaced both of them.
Feedback from the client was that the application was clunky and poorly designed and that the connecting process was infuriating and took upwards of a dozen attempts. We swapped it for the UWG4-4999 and the customer was able to program it, set up all schedules and everything in 15 minutes between both units. This was a very capable client and he has had no issues with any other smart product we have installed for him.

This pad has just enough supportive squish and thickness to help with 1/32 inch variations in subfloor, by my estimation.
It's comparable in function and probably insulative break to a quarter inch roll of natural cork.
The two foot by 3 ft pieces fit together well, I taped some of the seams to aid in installation. Cutting with a razor knife or heavy duty scissors is very easy.
I think this underlayment really facilitated the use of the warmly yours radiant heat mat on top. I appreciate that it provides a thermal break between the wires and the subfloor, and help radiate the heat upwards through the finished floor.

Sometimes in cars or in floor warming systems a simpler version works just fine.
We decided to switch out from our WiFi version which was spotty reception. We are now enjoying toasty radiant heat beneath the powder room floor. It has been marvelous this very cold winter season.

New one seems to work great, but a little disappointed the original only lasted a little over 5 years.

Easy install as always.

This is an excelent product.
After many years our last thermostat failed. The replacement took only a few minutes to re-install. As for cuatomer serive, we have worked with Chris a few times. He was very patient and walked us through testing the heated floor to determine if the floor or thermostat was the issue. It was the thermostat and we received the replacement at half price in 2 days. This was crucial as we were entering winter.

Thermostat works great and warmly yours service is second to none

Tech support was very responsive and helpful.
Good follow-up. Wiring was complicated for me, I'm no electrician. But once installed it worked, and was easy and pretty intuitive to set up and schedule. Now my bathroom floor is warm and comfy twice a day when we need it to be. Yay!
This was a replacement unit, the first one lasted 14 years and was less friendly to set up than the touchscreen version, and fortunately the old wiring was the same as,for nSpire Touch.

Installed and it is working great, set the temperature gauge on 84, and it continually works between 81 and 84 degrees no problems.
How nice to have a warm tile floor each time I enter the bathroom. Tell your salesman Jeff that you heard from me, I did talk with him on the telephone numerous times before I purchased this unit -he knew exactly what I wanted . The warmly yours original that I had operated
16 years, before it stopped, and the new one I like even better than the orignal one that I had. Thank you

Why Choose a Heated Tile Floor?
Tile, marble, and stone are beautiful but notoriously cold underfoot. A heated tile floor turns that cold surface into a source of bottom-up warmth — eliminating cold-shock mornings, reducing slips on wet bathroom floors, and adding measurable resale value to a home. For the shower enclosure itself — floor and bench — see our guide to heated shower floor systems built for wet areas.
Unlike forced-air heating, electric radiant tile heating warms the floor first and the air second, which means:
Faster comfort: tile reaches comfort temperature in 30–45 minutes vs. hours for hydronic systems.
No dust circulation: radiant heat doesn't move air, which is better for allergy-prone households.
Zone-level control: heat only the rooms — and times — you need with a programmable thermostat.
Quiet operation: no fans, no vents, no noise.
Energy efficient: most homeowners spend less than $1/day to heat a single bathroom zone.
A heated tile floor pairs especially well with bathrooms, kitchens, mudrooms, and entryways — anywhere bare feet meet hard flooring.

The cost of heated tile floors depends on the heating system and room size. TempZone Flex Rolls typically cost $10–$12 per square foot, while TempZone Cable with fixing strips costs around $5–$8 per square foot. For a standard 35 sq.ft. bathroom with about 25 heated square feet, expect to spend between $125 and $300 on heating materials.
Tile and stone are among the best conductors of radiant heat, meaning your heated tile floor will warm up quickly and operate efficiently. Most homeowners spend less than $1 per day to heat a single bathroom zone. Use the calculator below to estimate your exact operating costs based on your room size and local electricity rates.

Every complete WarmlyYours floor heating system—TempZone™, Environ™, or Slab Heat—ships with two floor sensors: one with the heating mat or cable and one with the thermostat. Install the backup right beside the primary sensor and run both leads to the thermostat box, but connect only the primary; the backup stays disconnected until it is needed.
The floor sensor lives under your tile, wood, carpet, or concrete, where it tells the thermostat how warm the floor really is. If that sensor is ever nicked during installation or fails years down the road, replacing it would normally mean tearing up the finished floor.
With the backup already embedded in the floor, the fix takes minutes: turn off power at the breaker, disconnect the original sensor at the thermostat, connect the backup, and your heat is back on. No torn-up floor, no new flooring, no second installation. Follow your thermostat's instructions, or have a qualified electrician make the swap.
Installer tip: Install both sensors side by side, centered between the heating wires, and test each one for 8–15 kΩ before covering the floor. For Slab Heat, place the sensors in capped 3/4″ rigid metal conduit between cable runs, clear of the heating cable, as the Slab Heat installation manual describes.
How to Install a Heated Tile Floor
A heated tile floor installs directly into the thinset mortar layer — the same material you already need for setting tile. The heating element (cable or mat) goes down on a clean subfloor, gets embedded in modified thinset, and the tile is laid on top. Showers and steam-wet areas need purpose-built mats or cable — see shower floor heating for wet-location options. For extra crack-prevention on concrete substrates, pair TempZone Cable with our Prodeso Uncoupling Membrane.
Step-by-Step Installation
Prep the subfloor — clean, dry, and level.
Mark the layout using your free WarmlyYours SmartPlan.
Lay the heating element — TempZone Flex Roll for open spaces, Cable with strips for irregular shapes, or Cable in Prodeso Membrane for slab-on-grade or crack-prone substrates.
Test the system with an ohmmeter (before, during, and after).
Embed in modified thinset with a notched trowel.
Install tile, marble, or stone using standard tile-setting techniques.
Wire the thermostat and allow thinset to fully cure before powering on.
Ceramic and porcelain tile — the most popular choice; excellent heat conduction, broad design options, and the most cost-effective install.
Natural stone (granite, slate, travertine) — conducts heat extremely well; heats up fast and retains warmth.
Marble — luxurious and an excellent conductor; ideal for primary bathrooms with proper underlayment for crack prevention.
Large-format tile (24″×24″ and up) — pairs well with TempZone Cable + Prodeso Membrane to prevent thermal-cycling cracks.
Avoid: unsealed natural stone in shower floors without waterproofing; see our heated shower floor guide for wet-area systems. And always use a modified (polymer-modified) thinset mortar — unmodified thinset may crack over time with thermal cycling.
A heated tile floor is a radiant heating system — usually electric cables or pre-spaced heating mats — installed beneath ceramic, porcelain, marble, or stone tile. The heating element is embedded in the thinset mortar layer, so it adds almost no floor height. When the thermostat calls for heat, the element warms the tile directly, which radiates warmth upward into the room.
For most homeowners, yes. A heated tile floor eliminates the cold-shock feeling of bare tile, reduces slip risk in bathrooms, and adds resale value (radiant heat is a top-cited feature in home listings). Operating cost is typically less than $1 per day for a bathroom zone, and a well-installed system lasts 30+ years.
Material cost for a heated tile floor with WarmlyYours runs $5–$15 per square foot depending on system type. For a standard 35 sq.ft. bathroom (about 25 heated square feet), the heating elements typically cost $125–$300, plus $200–$500 for electrical hookup. Use the operating cost calculator on this page for exact running costs.
Not directly — heating systems install beneath tile, not on top of it. However, if you have access from below (a basement or crawlspace under the room), our RetroHeat system staples between floor joists from underneath. Otherwise, the existing tile needs to come up before installation.
Yes. WarmlyYours TempZone systems are UL-listed, GFCI-protected, and operate at low surface temperatures (typically 75–85°F). All systems include a 25-year warranty and an ohmmeter-based install protocol that catches any wiring issue before the tile goes down.
WarmlyYours TempZone heating elements carry a 25-year warranty, and installed systems routinely last 30+ years — typically as long as the tile floor above them. The thermostat is the only component that may need replacement during the floor's life (every 10–15 years).
In small rooms (bathrooms, mudrooms) with good insulation, yes — a heated tile floor can serve as the primary heat source. In larger rooms it's typically used as supplemental comfort heat alongside the home's main system. Our SmartPlan engineers will tell you which applies to your project.
