Infrared Heating Panels & Electric Wall Heaters

Infrared Heating Panels & Electric Wall Heaters

Infrared heating panels—also called infrared panel heaters or radiant panels—add clean, supplemental heat to any room. These wall-mounted electric heaters radiate warmth directly to people and objects, so you feel it instantly: elegant, silent, and far more efficient than a traditional space heater.

Why Choose an Infrared Heating Panel?

Unlike forced-air heaters, infrared heating panels warm you directly—like the sun on a cold day—for comfort that's immediate, clean, and efficient.

Immediate Warmth On Demand Infrared energy warms you and the objects around you the instant the panel switches on—no waiting for air to heat up.
Clean, Allergen-Free Heat No forced air means no circulating dust, pollen, or allergens. Ideal for anyone with respiratory sensitivities.
Energy Efficient Zone Heating Heat only the rooms you use. Electric panels convert energy to warmth with no duct losses—among the most efficient options for supplemental heat.
Easy to Install Mount horizontally or vertically on any wall—no ductwork, no gas lines, no contractor required.
5 Year Warranty Every Ember infrared heating panel is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty, guaranteed free from defects.
cTUVus Certified Independently tested and certified for safety—no open flame, no fumes, safer than gas or propane wall heaters.
24/7 Installation Support Our US-based experts are available around the clock to help you every step of the way.
Whisper-Quiet Operation No fans, no motors, no moving parts—Ember panels run in complete silence, perfect for bedrooms, offices, and anywhere noise matters.

Infrared Heating Panel Customer Reviews

We take pride in providing both exceptional service and great products. But don't just take our word for it, check out what some of our customers have had to say.

How Infrared Heating Panels Work

Have you ever felt warm standing outside in the cold winter sun? Infrared rays heat you directly instead of heating the air around you. Wall-mounted electric heaters work the same way — they warm the walls, ceiling, and objects in a room, which then release that warmth slowly and evenly.

Compared to gas or propane wall heaters, electric infrared heating panels offer clear advantages:

  • Safer — no open flame, no fumes, no combustion risk
  • More consistent heat output with no cold spots
  • Lower energy bills by heating only the rooms you use
  • Allergen-friendly — no forced air circulating dust or pollen

Infrared Heating Panel Questions & Answers

Showing 10 of 20 questions

Yes, infrared heating panels are exactly the same as radiant panels. Both terms refer to the same technology: heaters that use infrared radiation to directly warm people and objects in a room, rather than heating the air like traditional convection heaters. They are highly efficient and provide comfortable, sun-like warmth.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Yes. Electric wall heaters turn nearly all the electricity they use into heat, with no flue or duct losses. An infrared panel warms the people and surfaces in front of it, not just the air. Your cost depends on how long it runs, so heat only the rooms you use and put the panel on a thermostat or timer.

Was this helpful? Yes No

For a room you heat every day, a panel has practical advantages: it mounts on the wall, so it can’t tip over and takes no floor space, and it has no fan. Both turn nearly all their electricity into heat, and both get hot. A portable heater costs less and can move from room to room.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Yes, when installed as the manual directs. Ember panels carry a US and Canadian safety certification and shut off if they overheat. The front runs about 194°F (90°C): a quick touch makes you pull away, but longer contact can burn. Keep 10 inches clear, never cover it, and mount it at least 4 feet up in rooms children use.

For a room you use often, they can be. You can heat just that room and turn down the rest of the house, and the panel mounts flat, with no fan or filters. It costs more up front than a portable heater; to estimate running cost, multiply its kilowatts by the hours it runs and your rate per kWh.

Infrared heating panels are designed for supplemental heating, not as a primary heat source. They work best to boost warmth in specific rooms or offset cold spots, but most homes require a central heating system for whole-home comfort. Why panels are supplemental:

  • Coverage area: Each panel heats 50–150 sq.ft. (one room or zone)
  • Wattage limits: 300–800W per panel (not enough for whole-home heating)
  • Installation: Requires multiple panels for multiple rooms (costly for whole-home coverage)

Best use cases for supplemental heating:

  • Cold rooms: Basements, sunrooms, garages, workshops
  • Spot heating: Home offices, bathrooms, bedrooms
  • Zone heating: Heat only occupied rooms (save energy)
  • Seasonal use: Three-season rooms, vacation homes
  • Supplement existing heat: Boost warmth without cranking up thermostat

When panels CAN be primary heat:

  • Tiny homes: 200–400 sq.ft. spaces (1–2 panels sufficient)
  • Well-insulated spaces: Modern, energy-efficient construction
  • Mild climates: Regions with minimal heating needs
  • Single-room dwellings: Studio apartments, ADUs

Sizing guidance:

Use our Heat Loss Calculator to determine if infrared heating panels can meet your heating needs or if they’re best used as supplemental heat.

No — painting the face of a panel changes its surface emissivity and can reduce heat output, and it may void the warranty. Choose a factory finish instead: WarmlyYours infrared heating panels come in glass, mirror and white finishes (including a mirror option that doubles as a full-length mirror) designed to radiate heat efficiently while complementing your décor.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Yes, as supplemental heat for a room. An infrared panel warms the people, floor and furniture in front of it, not just the air, and the room warms up as those surfaces do. It works best with a clear line of sight to where you sit and a thermostat or timer to control it.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Not always, but it depends on the wattage and what else is on the circuit.

WarmlyYours Ember panels draw between 2.5A (300W) and 6.7A (800W) on a standard 120V circuit. A typical 15A household circuit can safely supply 12A continuously (80% rule), so:

  • One panel on a lightly loaded circuit — usually fine without a dedicated circuit. A 500W panel draws only 4.2A, leaving plenty of headroom.
  • Multiple panels or a heavily loaded circuit — a dedicated circuit is recommended. Two 700W panels on the same circuit would draw 11.7A, close to the 12A limit.
  • Bathrooms — most building codes require bathroom outlets on a dedicated 20A GFCI circuit, so adding a panel may require its own circuit depending on existing loads.

All WarmlyYours infrared heating panels must be hardwired by a licensed electrician (not plugged in). Your electrician can assess the circuit capacity during installation. For questions about electrical requirements, contact our radiant experts for free guidance.

Infrared heating panels mount flat against a wall or ceiling using a bracket kit. Plug-in models connect to a standard wall outlet, while hardwired models are wired to a switch or thermostat and are usually installed by an electrician. WarmlyYours Ember and LAVA panels are available in both plug-in and hardwired versions, with ceiling-mount and towel-bar accessories for added flexibility.

An infrared heating panel has an electric element behind its face that warms up and emits long-wave (far) infrared radiation. Rather than heating the air like a fan or convection heater, that radiation passes through the air and is absorbed by the surfaces it reaches — walls, floors, furniture and people — which then gently re-radiate the warmth back into the room. The result is the same comfortable warmth you feel from the sun on a cold day, and you notice it almost immediately.

Ember panels have no fan, motor or filter to wear out, and they carry a 5-year warranty. To keep one in good shape, switch it off and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes before dusting it or wiping it with a slightly damp cloth, never cover it, and never hang clothing on it.

Multiply the heater’s wattage in kilowatts by the hours it runs and your rate per kWh. Ember panels run from 300 W to 800 W, so each uses 0.3 to 0.8 kWh an hour. Size the panel to the room rather than picking the lowest wattage, and use a thermostat or timer so it runs only when you need it.

Was this helpful? Yes No

It depends on wattage, run time and your electricity rate. A 300 W panel uses 0.3 kWh for each hour it runs, and an 800 W panel uses 0.8 kWh; multiply by your rate per kWh. A thermostat or timer keeps the cost down by running the panel only when you need it.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Infrared panels heat by line of sight, so furniture between you and the panel blocks the warmth, and a drafty room needs more wattage. The surface gets hot, so panels need clearance and care around children. They cost more up front than a plug-in convection heater, but have no fan or filters and mount flat.

Was this helpful? Yes No

It depends on the room. For quiet, targeted heat where you sit, an infrared panel works well: it has no fan and mounts flat. To warm a large room’s air quickly, a convection or fan heater may suit better. Whichever you choose, size it to the room and control it with a thermostat or timer.

Was this helpful? Yes No

A baseboard heater runs along the bottom of the wall and warms the air, which rises and circulates; furniture and curtains have to stay clear of it. An infrared panel mounts higher on the wall and warms the people and surfaces in front of it; it needs 10 inches clear in front.

Was this helpful? Yes No

Allow about 7 watts per square foot in a room with average insulation, so a 10 × 10 ft room (100 sq ft) needs about 700 W. Each Ember product page lists the area its panel covers, such as 86 sq ft for 600 W. High ceilings, large windows or poor insulation need more wattage, and a large room heats more evenly with two panels. For an exact size, ask us for a free heat loss calculation.

On a wall facing where you sit or stand, since furniture between you and the panel blocks its heat. Mount the bottom edge at least 2 feet above the floor, or 4 feet up in rooms children use, with 10 inches clear in front. Avoid spots in front of or right below an outlet, or within reach of anyone in the tub or shower. The Ember Flex 500 W and 700 W can also go on the ceiling.
